Our nightly game of "Greed."
I don't promise I'll post everyday. I don't promise the pictures will be fantastic. I don't promise this will always be super interesting. But I'll try.

The girls and Aunt Ellen enjoy a hot game of "Sleeping Queens," while Jeff and Rich compare Amarillo/California home prices.

We had several periods of down pouring rain today. It was awesome. The kids, and big-kid Uncle Rich, couldn't resist playing in it.
They were soaked.

We spent a very sweaty morning in Palo Duro canyon today. I didn't take many pictures because, frankly, they'd look just like the picture from our last visit (and the one before that, etc.) But this truly deserved a picture. It's either a testament to how nice Rich is or how spoiled Bailey is. Perhaps a combination of both.

Jeff's sister Ellen and her husband Rich have graciously come to visit us in Amarillo. When we returned from lunch out this afternoon, we found this strange scene.

Another Summer day in 2006
I love this picture because it is a perfect visual of Shelbi and Grandma Foster's relationship. Shelbi is excited to show her something cool, and Mary provides just the right reaction.

Back home. We had cucumbers from our garden for dinner. Bailey ate at least half of them herself.
It's a good thing we have more...

Another city, another children's museum. This one was actually pretty cool, and as an extra bonus, the aquarium was right next door.
Of course we had to touch the shark at the aquarium. It was shark week.
The mermaid show, a favorite.

The Denver Zoo
The penguins were my favorite.
Some of us weren't thrilled to be at the zoo.
A rare sighting of a Red Breasted Goofball.
Gorillas are always Erik's favorite. He was gross. He kept picking his nose. The gorilla, not Erik.
The near-end of our sweaty morning at the zoo. At least they're all mostly smiling.

Today was my favorite day of our trip. We went to Water World.
Having lunch in our car, during the thunderstorm that threatened to ruin our whole day...
Six hours later. The rain cleared up shortly after lunch, the crowds gave up, and we spent a great day riding water slides and playing in the wave pool.

Jeff had a few days off, so we took off for cooler weather in Colorado. First stop was Colorado Springs to "hike" in the mountains. We basically went on the easiest trail. Along the way Shelbi and I kept score between Colorado mountains and Texas canyons. Colorado won.
Ryan stopped at nearly every trail marker to learn about the nearby trees. He came out the most educated of any of us.
Taking cover under a tree when the rain really started to come down.
This sign greeted us as we began our hike. Colorado mountains: 0, Texas canyon: 1.
After more pouring rain.

I have to say, this has been the best summer weather-wise for Amarillo. Many days that haven't even hit 90 degrees, with cool nights. Lately we've been congregating in the cul de sac with our other neighbors, chatting while the kids pull out every bike/vehicle/skateboard from the garages.

I've never been fishing. Never really wanted to. Syd, on the other hand, was super excited when our kind neighbors took her down to the river/pond that runs through the golf course. They go nearly every night, looking for frogs.
She caught the biggest one.

While Jeff and I were at the movies tonight, the kids made their own movie theater, with tickets and all.

The boys have been taking power tumbling/trampoline this summer. Unlike the girls, they don't practice what they learn in class on our family room carpet. So I was looking forward to parent watch day to see what they're actually doing. I'm not going to say they have the most natural gymnastic ability. But boy are they good at the crash landings on the trampoline. Erik may actually be good, but we'll never know it because he likes falling down so much. Every time either of them would do a cartwheel, the landing would echo throughout the gym. Then both boys would laugh and laugh.
