Do you know this trick? By brother Jeff told me that if you put a wooden spoon across a pot of boiling potatoes, the water won't bubble over. I'm not sure the science behind this, but it really does work! I've been making potatoes for years and years, and cleaning up the mess it makes afterwards. But not any more. I'm going to try it with boiling pasta next.
