I don't promise I'll post everyday. I don't promise the pictures will be fantastic. I don't promise this will always be super interesting. But I'll try.

Shelbi and I went to an instrument fair put on to give kids entering middle school a chance to try different instruments and get excited about joining band. I'm not sure Shelbi's cut out to be a tuba player, but anyone who tried all the instruments got entered into a drawing for a free iPad. I think that was her secret reason for wanting to go, but she actually really liked playing the flute. What fourth grade girl wouldn't?
p.s. I don't think there's any way you could have convinced me to "try" all the instruments after seeing the way the kids spit into them, trying to make music. No matter how much disinfectant you use.

Excuse me!?!? Does this mean Shebbs is going to MIDDLE SCHOOL next year? This news is all the more shocking when I see how tiny she looks next to that tuba. I am officially freaking out. FREAKING OUT!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a ton of fun. Jessica would love that! Shelbi really looks like a Foster in this pic. Something about the eyes.
ReplyDeleteJill, they actually have middle school set up really great here. It's from 5th to 8th grade, but the fifth/sixth graders are kept completely separate from the seventh/eighth graders. I think it seems a little less intimidating. Plus the middle school is only made up of kids who came from her elementary school, so she'll already know the kids who are in the sixth grade when she's in fifth grade.
